Archie C. Glans, 90, of 98 Sleepy Hollow Road, died Thursday (July 15, 2010) at Kane Community Hospital.
Born June 13, 1920, in Kellettvile, he was a son of Carl and Ruth Matha Glans. On March 20, 1942, in Kane, he married Lois Bryington who survives.
Mr. Glans worked for Sergeant Gas Company for many years and then worked for the PA Water Company. As a young man he served in the CC Camp in Duhring. He was a member of the Kane Lodge #566 F&AM and the Coudersport Consistory. During World War II, he served with the Army Infantry in the Pacific Theatre and rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant, while receiving four bronze stars and the Good Conduct Medal.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Lois Glans, are two daughters, Kimberley Cochran of Ludlow and Marsha Swedenhjelm of Kane; a son, Archie Glans of Cochranton; and two grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; three sisters; an infant brother; and his son-in-law Darrell Swedenhjelm.
Friends will be received at the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday from 7-9:00 P.M. and on Saturday from 11:00-12:00 Noon. Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday at Lebanon Lutheran Church with The Rev. V. Theodore Benson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Lebanon Lutheran Cemetery in Kanesholm.
