Joan M. “Joanie” Yaros, 68, of 452 Lambert Drive, passed away, Monday, July 26th, 2010 at The Pavilion at BRMC.
Born January 6, 1942, in Bradford, she was a daughter of the late Melvin E. and Pauline M. (Walker) Hurd-Atwood.
Mrs. Yaros was a 1959 graduate of Randolph High School and attended Fredonia State Teachers College.
On June 10, 1988 in Limestone she married John J. Yaros who died on May 7, 2002.
She had been a manager of Wicks & Sticks in Florida and after moving to the area she had worked at CVS Pharmacy, retiring due illness.
She is survived by three children; two daughters, Cindy (Fabian) Rogalski of Rochester, NY, and Julie (Bret) Petitt of Bradford, a son, Robert C. (Cathy) Benson of Bradford, four step children, John J. Yaros, Jr. of Lewis Run, Joseph H. (Wendy) Yaros of Bradford, Dr. Mark F. (Barb)Yaros of Somerset, and Mary Ann (David) Rathfon of Bradford, a sister Denise (John) Law of Yardville, NJ, five grandchildren: Christina (Ryan) Close, Kayla Benson, Rachael Benson, Robby Benson and Kyle Petitt, one great granddaughter Stella Close, two nieces, one nephew, one uncle, aunts and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant sister, Renee Hurd, and an infant grandson Russell Petitt.
Family will be receiving friends on Saturday, July 31, 2010 from 2:00 to 3:00pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc., East Main Street, where a Memorial Service will be held at 3:00pm with Rev. Stacey Fussell, pastor of the Church of the Ascension officiating.
