Mrs. Velma May Baker, 82, of 301 Greeves St. Kane, died Thursday, September 3rd, 2009 at Hamot Medical Center.
Born July 13, 1927, in Olean, she was a daughter of the late Parker Wesley and Pearl Isabell (Finney) Reed.
On October 1, 1949 at her home in Ludlow she married Leland H. Baker Sr. who died in March of 1989.
She was a homemaker, and had attended the LDS Church of Kane. She was a member of the VFW Auxillary, and the American Legion Auxillary.
She is survived by one daughter: Norma J. Reinard of Kane, three sons: Wayne P. Reed and LeLand H. Baker Jr., both of Wellsville, and Del P. Baker of Friendship, two brothers: William Reed, and David Reed, both of Bradford, two sisters: Norlene Yehl, of Corning, and Betty Remmington-Craig of Bradford, by 22 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, and several neices and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Russell Baker, two brothers Jay Reed and Ronald Reed, and one sister Ruth Deppa.
Family will be receiving friends on Friday September 4, 2009 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm and again on Saturday September 5, 2009 from 10:00am to Noon at Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. 372 East Main St. at which time funeral and committal will be held with Raymond Hanson officiating.
Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park
