Bradford City Police Officers Getting Laid off?

A reliable source has informed me that 2 police officers were told they are being laid off.  There will be no lay off from the fire department.  Also I would like to know, does the mayor of Bradford pay any taxes to the city?  Does he work in the city, own property or a business in the city?

Comment left by Mike:

I was told that two of our officers were told today they were being laid off. I only spoke with one of them and he had told me he did receive notice. As far as the fire department I don’t know and as far as the mayor paying any city taxes, if he does not than I would say as he said with the petition for the police department, he should have no say in city matters.

Years ago, when I served in an unpaid position with the Township Water Authority,
I was required to annually file a disclosure form – listing the very things you are asking about here – to hold the office.

Again – it was an annual REQUIREMENT.

It was there to prevent amongst other things – conflicts of financial interests, and the like.

Those forms are placed in a public archive,
and made available to those requesting such information.
I was a bit squeamish about this at first, being it was an unpaid position –
did I want to release such information?
Was it all worth it, as the position I held with the Authority was an unpaid one?

I discovered it was general in nature, stuff such as SSAN’s , etc were not released,
so I had no problem participating in the disclosure requirement at all.

Being that the Mayor’s office is a compensated (abeit small) position,
I would feel the Mayor would also be required to provide such disclosure.
After all, he has nothing to hide…

    Right???

A little bit of payback for the petition the officers circulated? Why is the most expensive department in Bradford City’s budget still remaining fully staffed?
