Nancy L. Johnston, 93, formerly of Petrolia St., passed away Friday, February 5th, 2010 at The Pavilion at BRMC.
Born January 29, 1917, in Brooklyn NY, she was a daughter of the late William J. and Loretta C.(Kedian) Lamey.
On August 28, 1943 in Westport CT she married Harry S. “Hap” Johnston who died on October 15, 2005.
Mrs. Johnston was a graduate of the College of New Rochelle where she majored in English and History. She received her Master’s Degree in Speech from Columbia University in New York City.
She had been employed by the Bradford Area School Distinct as a speech therapist for over 30 years. She was the debate coach at Bradford Central Christian High School for ten years.
Mrs. Johnston was a member of St. Bernard Church. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening and refinishing furniture.
Surviving are three daughters, Patricia (Anthony) Serra of Mifflintown, Mary Ann (Joseph) McSparran of Lititz, Terry Neuroh of Bradford, five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
At the family’s request there will be no visitation. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday February 13, 2010 at 10:00am in St. Bernard Church with Rev. Leo Gallina pastor as celebrent. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.
