Edwin C. “Ed” Winkie, 67, of Bradford PA

Edwin C. “Ed” Winkie, 67, of 12 Hedgehog Lane, Bradford, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2010 at Highland Hospital, Rochester, NY.

Born August 14, 1942, in Bradford, he was the son of the late Leo Winkie and Margery (Culbertson) Morey who survives him.

On April 29, 1967 in Bradford he married Judith (O’Connor) Winkie who survives.

Mr. Winkie was a 1961 graduate of Bradford High School. During high school he worked for his father at his garage and grocery store. He attended machine trade school in Chicago.

He had been employed in maintenance at Georgia Pacific, retiring after 46 years of service.

He was a member of the Bradford Masonic Lodge #749 F& AM and the Coudersport Consistory

Mr. Winkie was an avid fan of NASCAR, and the Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed gardening.

In addition to his wife and mother he is survived by a daughter, Janet L. (Martin Barrett) Winkie of Rochester, NY, a son Todd E. (Mary Anne) Winkie of Wellsboro, a sister, Marilyn (Frank) Macri of Rochester, NY, a step sister, Lois VanHoutte of Bradford, two step brothers: Roger Morey of Syracuse, and Darrell Morey of Michigan, two grandchildren: Joseph Winkie and Olivia Winkie and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, and his step father Rev. Roger Morey.

Family will be receiving friends on Friday, February 26, 2010 from 3 to 5 & 7 to 9pm in the  Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. South Ave.

Friends are invited to attend funeral and committal services at the West Branch United Methodist Church, at 11:00AM on Saturday, February 27th, with Rev. Max Miller, pastor officiating. Burial will be in  Willow Dale Cemetery. Members of Masonic Lodge 749 F&AM will conduct a masonic service at 7:00pm Friday in the funeral home.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the American Cancer Society  McKean Co. Unit  PO Box  67 Bradford, PA 16701 or West Branch United Methodist Church.
