Francis G. Rose, 90, of 3 Southgate Rd., Bradford, formerly of Kane, passed away on Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010 at Bradford Manor.
Born January 13, 1920, in Kane he was a son of the late Frank and Blanche (Broutin) Rose.
On February 24, 1949 in Kane, he married LaVerta “Bootsie” (Cunningham) Rose who survives.
He was a 1938 graduate of Kane High School. He entered the United States Army on February 26, 1942 and served during W.W.II in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He was honorably discharged on October 2, 1945.
He was formerly employed at at Bovard and Seafang from 1947 to 1970, then as a cook at the Warren State Hospital from 1970 to 1982 when he retired.
He was a member of St. Bernard Church, the Italian Club on Webster St., VFW, American Legion, Kane Elks Club, and the Elks Club in Olean.
Surviving in addition to his wife Bootsie are two daughters: Jody L. (Jim) Copeland of Bradford, and Jeannine L. Schroeder of Verona PA, two sons: James H. (Michele) Rose of Dansville NY; Francis G. (Rosie) Rose of Lyonsville PA, ten grandchildren, one great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother John Rose.
At the family’s request there will be no visitation. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am on Friday February 26th in St. Bernard Church with Rev. Leo Gallina, pastor as Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Callistus Cemetery.
