George M. Truby, 89, of 945 Broad Street Salamanca, formerly of Limestone, passed away, Monday, February 22nd, 2010 at Olean General Hospital.
Born May 15, 1920, in Olean, he was a son of the late Michael J. and Nancy E. (Reed) Truby.
He was the widower of Mary Elizabeth (Stokes) Truby who died July 28, 1994.
Mr. Truby a member of First Church of the Nazarene, former member of the Limestone Senior Center, the Greater Bradford Senior Center. He was a friend of Dr. Bob and Bill W. for 54 years. He had volunteered for American Red Cross Meals on Wheels program.
He had worked in maitenance at Bradford Hospital and painted for area families.
Surviving is a son, Charles Cox of Bradford, a sister, Ruth Whipple of Williamsville, NY, two brothers, Leonard Truby of Angola, NY and Bill Truby of North East, PA, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and great great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two daughters: Janet Wells and Jean Fink, two sons, Ronald and Ernest Cox, three brothers: John, Howard and Richard Truby, and two sisters: Virginia Byrnes and Elizabeth Moyer.
Family will be receiving friends on Friday, February 26, 2010 from 3 to 5 & 7 to 9pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. East Main Street, where funeral and committal services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 27th, with Rev. Timothy D. Brown, pastor of the First Church of the Nazarne officiating. Burial will be in Limestone Cemetery.
