Two Potter County Wind Energy Plans Moving Forward

winddddTwo large-scale industrial wind energy projects in northern Potter County are moving forward. Members of the Ulysses Township Board of Supervisors last week tabled action on a proposed “host community agreement” with AES Corporation. AES plans to build an industrial wind energy plant in Ulysses and Hector townships, leasing property from several landowners for construction of approximately 50 turbines.

Another company, the Chicago-based Invenergy, plans to build 59 wind turbines in Sweden, Allegany and western Ulysses townships. The turbines shown above are among those now in operation in the area of Bliss and Eagle in New York.
