Joseph “Joe” D. O’Donnell, 92, of 141 ? Greeves Street, died Friday, April 2, 2010, at Sena Kean Manor.
Born November 29, 1917, in Crown, PA, he was a son of William and Marie Schmader O’Donnell. In 1946, he married Mickey Yetto who preceded him in death in April of 1987. In 1990, he married Ann Oliver who survives.
Mr. O’Donnell had been employed as a pump station gauger for Bradford National Transit until his retirement in 1980 after forty years of service.
During World War II, he served for four years as an airplane engine technician with the Army Air Corp in the South Pacific, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant and receiving the Good Conduct Medal.
As an active member of St. Callistus Church, he had served over the years as a Eucharistic Minister, usher, member of Parish Council and as a greeter. He was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 715 and also belonged to the senior citizen group, R.S.V.P., the Kinzua Fish and Wildlife Association and the Kane Fish and Game Club.
After his marriage to Ann, they did extensive traveling and camping. Together, they volunteered to deliver Meals on Wheels.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Pam (Jim) McLeod of Ashtabula, OH; a grandson, Brian (Kristy) McLeod who serves in the Air Force; a sister, Leone “Oonie” Dalton of Kane; a brother, Bill O’Donnell of Bradford; three stepdaughters, Peggy (Dave) Swaney of Mifflinburg, Cindy (Mike) Lloyd in Arkansas and Sali Tabor of Lubbock, TX; a stepson, Pete (Cheryl) Oliver of Kingston, NY; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his first wife, Mickey, and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray O’Donnell and Tom O’Donnell; and four sisters, Theresa Campbell, Frances Hogan, Rita Loose and Agnes Dana.
Friends will be received from 10-11:00 A.M. Wednesday in the gathering space at St. Callistus Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 A.M. with The Rev. Philip Pinczewski, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Callistus Cemetery.
