Doris Benscoter, 86, of 200 Wyndtree Court, Bellefonte, and formerly of Kane, died Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at Mountain Laurel Nursing Home in Clearfield.
Born February 19, 1924, in Kane, she was a daughter of the late Oscar and Jennie Anderson Hanson. On May 23, 1946, in Kane, she married Dan Benscoter who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Benscoter was employed as a registered nurse at the Kane Community Hospital and belonged to the Registered Nurses Club. She was a member of Tabor Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Benscoter of State College and Linda (Charles) Pierce of Dubois; a son, Dr. Dan (Margaret) Benscoter of Aledo, TX; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her husband and parents, by a daughter, Beth Ann Benscoter; five brothers, George Hanson, Clarence Hanson, Claude Hanson, Floyd Hanson and Roy Hanson; and three sisters, Anna Hanson, Alice Snyder and Helen Fredell.
Friends will be received Thursday from 7-9:00 P.M. and again from 2-3:00 P.M. Friday at the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc. where a funeral service will follow at 3:00 P.M. with The Rev. David Pflieger officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
