George M. Truby, 89, of 945 Broad Street Salamanca, formerly of Limestone, passed away, Monday, February 22nd, 2010 at Olean General Hospital.
Born May 15, 1920, in Olean, he was a son of the late Michael J. and Nancy E. (Reed) Truby.
He was the widower of Mary Elizabeth (Stokes) Truby who died July 28, 1994.
Mr. Truby a member of First Church of the Nazarene, former member of the Limestone Senior Center, the Greater Bradford Senior Center. He was a friend of Dr. Bob and Bill W. for 54 years. He had volunteered for American Red Cross Meals on Wheels program. Read the rest of this entry »

Francis G. Rose, 90, of 3 Southgate Rd., Bradford, formerly of Kane, passed away on Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010 at Bradford Manor.
Born January 13, 1920, in Kane he was a son of the late Frank and Blanche (Broutin) Rose.
On February 24, 1949 in Kane, he married LaVerta “Bootsie” (Cunningham) Rose who survives.
He was a 1938 graduate of Kane High School. He entered the United States Army on February 26, 1942 and served during W.W.II in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He was honorably discharged on October 2, 1945. Read the rest of this entry »

Edwin C. “Ed” Winkie, 67, of 12 Hedgehog Lane, Bradford, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2010 at Highland Hospital, Rochester, NY.
Born August 14, 1942, in Bradford, he was the son of the late Leo Winkie and Margery (Culbertson) Morey who survives him.
On April 29, 1967 in Bradford he married Judith (O’Connor) Winkie who survives.
Mr. Winkie was a 1961 graduate of Bradford High School. During high school he worked for his father at his garage and grocery store. He attended machine trade school in Chicago. Read the rest of this entry »

Viola J. Falconi, 81, of 8 West Irvine St., Lewis Run, passed away Sunday, February 21st, 2010 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Born September 16, 1928, in Lewis Run, she was the daughter of the late Joseph N. and Mary L. (Vecellio del Monego) Vecellio.
On January 31, 1948 in St. Bernard Church before Father J.P. Kennedy she married Anthony T. Falconi Jr. who survives.
Mrs. Falconi was a 1946 graduate of Bradford High School. She had worked for many years as a waitress at the Holiday Inn, and later at the DeSoto Holiday House. Read the rest of this entry »

Charles Joseph Sluga, 93, of 21 Anderson , Mt. Jewett, PA died Saturday, February 20, 2010, at St. Mary’s East Home of Erie in Erie, PA.
Born on August 23, 1916, in Port Allegany, PA, he was the son of the Frank and Mary (Mohar) Sluga. He married the late Ruth Irene Sloppy on November 13, 1948, in Mt. Jewett, PA.
Charlie graduated from Hazelhurst High School in 1934. He was employed as an automotive mechanic at Johnson Keesler Garage and the Hilltop Garage in Mt. Jewett, and as a service manager at Fairway Ford in Bradford. He maintained the fleet of diesel trucks for Owens Illinois in Bradford until he retired in 1986 at the age of 70. Stanley A. Besse, 99, formerly of 342 Pennsylvania Ave., died Friday (February 19, 2010) at the Lutheran Home at Kane.
Born December 29, 1910, in East Kane, he was a son of Charles I. and Maytie Blair Besse. On July 7, 1973, in Kane, he married Dorothy Anderson Kirkpatrick who preceded him in death. He also was preceded in death by his first wife, Queen Kifer Besse.
Mr. Besse had been a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Kane; a 58-year member of Kane Lodge #566 F.& A.M.; the BPOE #329 of Kane in which he was the oldest living member; the American Legion Post#250; and was a former member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club. Read the rest of this entry »

Ricky Allen Haskins, 54, of Bradford, formerly of Callands VA, passed away Friday, February 19th, 2010 at his daughter’s residence surrounded by his loving family.
Born March 28, 1955, in Danville VA, he was a son of Allen and Nancy (Osborne) Haskins of Callands VA.
On October 5, 1973 in Gulfport MS he married Jacqueline Yohe who survives.

Jeanette L. Bergman, 41, of 507 Hedgerow Court, Cranberry Twp., died Wednesday (February 3, 2010) at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Born December 24, 1968, in Warren, she was a daughter of Carl Stranburg and Sara Markey McCracken. On May 26, 1990, in Kane, she married Frank Bergman who survives.

Gerald S. “Jerry” Barrett, 63, of 59 Boser Road, Bradford, passed away Saturday, February 6th, 2010 at The Pavilion at BRMC.
Born February 22, 1946, in Bradford he was a son of the late Sanford and Naomi Pearl (Weld) Barrett. Mr. Barrett attended Bradford schools.
On July 31, 1976 Bradford, he married Lori K (Poore) Barrett who survives.
He was formerly employed at J. A. Frisina Paving, Kightlinger Excavating, New Bethlehem Burial Service, and prior to his retirement at Wayne Paving Company. Nancy L. Johnston, 93, formerly of Petrolia St., passed away Friday, February 5th, 2010 at The Pavilion at BRMC.
Born January 29, 1917, in Brooklyn NY, she was a daughter of the late William J. and Loretta C.(Kedian) Lamey.
On August 28, 1943 in Westport CT she married Harry S. “Hap” Johnston who died on October 15, 2005.

Clementine P. Fields, 77, of 390 Pine Run Road, passed away, Friday, February 5th, 2010 at the Bradford Manor.
Born June 29, 1932, in Bradford, she was a daughter of the late Luke and Margaret (Effinito) Pascarella.
On October 27, 1950 in Bradford she married Neal R. Fields who survives.

Gerald R. Weatherley
Gerald R. Weatherley of 512 N. 8th Street, passed away Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010 in the Olean General Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer.
Mr. Weatherly was born on Jan. 13, 1951 in Olean and was a son of Leslie W. and Nina E. Wilber Weatherley. He was a graduate of Olean High School Class of 1969. Mr. Weatherley worked at Dresser and then Hills Department Store for 2 years and the AMES for 3 years. For the past 8 years he has worked for the Rehabilitation Center, cleaning at Cooper, until Dec. of 2009 when he retired due to his illness. Mr. Weatherley enjoyed hunting, carpentry and working on his truck. He truly loved being in the outdoors. Read the rest of this entry »

Betty B. Wolcott, 94 of Derrick City, passed away, Friday, February 5, 2010, at the Bradford Manor.
Born on June 22, 1915, in Buffalo, NY, she a daughter of the late John C. and Jane (Campbell) Bowery.
Mrs. Wolcott was a graduate of Amherst Central High School, and a graduate of the State Teachers College @ Buffalo, Buffalo, NY. She was a member of the Kappa Delta Pi Sorority and Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority.
She began her teaching career in Eggertsville, NY, where she taught for eight years. She moved to Bradford and continued her teaching career, teaching 2nd grade at the Lincoln Elementary School until her retirement. Read the rest of this entry »

Marian J. Kellogg, 75, of 50 Long Lane, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010 at The Pavilion at BRMC.
Born June 3, 1934, in Meadville, she was the daughter of the late John and Beth (McKinney) Hofius.
On March 8, 1952 in Meadville she married Ronald F. Kellogg who survives.
